So I've been sort of on a hiatus from livejournal...but I've recently realized how much I missed writing in my journal. Instead of starting fresh with a new journal, I have decided to make this one friends only. If you were on my friends list before, you still are on my friends list. If you're not on my friends list, but would like to be, just comment and I'll most likely add you!

So I wake up this morning..and the curtains are closed in our room but I see light shining through and I think to myself, "ooh good, its nice out!"...I go to the window, open the curtains..and much to my dismay, it is not the sun shining through...its the reflection from the six inches of SNOW we got overnight! Are you kidding me?! Seriously, mother nature, you're not funny anymore.

And its contiuned to snow all day long..in fact, I did not have to work today because the kids got out of school early. How come college classes are never cancelled due to weather?

Although I did have one bright spot in my day. I found out that I'm going to be going to the Kenny Chesney and Sugarland concert not this weekend, but the weekend after! I'm so pumped! I absolutely adore Sugarland (in fact, their song Want To is my current ringtone ha) and Kenny Chesney is always entertaining..its going to be SO fun! This past weekend I went to a Superchick concert which was amazing..two concerts in three weeks..not too shabby!

It is amazing how a simple message can brighten up your entire day. So I was already having a pretty good day, but then I got a text from Sandy saying "come home now! we all miss you soooo much! Claire has been talking about you all night." Seeing that just made me happy, to know I'm missed and thought about while I'm gone. And for a split second, I actually thought about packing up and leaving early for Easter break haha! But I've just got to keep pushing through these last couple days, it'll be worth it in the end!

So I got my big biology test out of the way today. It was nice to get that over with..I felt as though it was a tough test, but not as bas as it could have been...damn life cycles of fungi and plants...I'm so glad we're moving on to kingdom Animalia!

We started watching Supersize Me in Wellness class today...I haven't seen the movie yet, and yeah, I find the movie to be very interesting.

I got so much accomplished tonight...I finished writing my speech for Wednesday, did my religion worksheet, and printed off all the psychology lecture outlines for the rest of the year...and I finished in time to watch The Hills finale (a guilty pleasure show ha!).

Well, I'm off to read...I'm hoping to finish up the book I'm reading...

WHOA I haven't posted in forever!! I didn't realize it had been over a month!

I woke up this morning to find snow falling...I was like "are you kidding me!?"..apparently Mother Nature was up for a little April Fools Day prank ha!

Well, nothing too exciting has gone on lately. I only have a couple more weeks of school left. I cannot believe my first year of college is almost over, it has gone by so incredibly fast! I registered for classes for next year (which was a disaster!)and I've got my housing all figured out. I'm living with my two friends in a triple next year which is going to be blast! Although I'm not sure how much school work is going to get done haha!

Work has been going well. I applied to work with same program next year, although I won't be able to be at the same after school program due to my schedule next year...which kind of stinks because I've gotten close to some of the kids in program.

I'm just really ready for it to be summer, I'm trying really hard to stay motivated in my classes, but it gets difficult as the days get warmer haha! Good thing Easter break is this week, it'll at least give me a little break!

Well, I have to get back to the books...I've got a big biology test tomorrow...ick!

Nothing too much going on right now...

Classes today weren't too bad..I just have psychology and religion on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I had a religion test today (a friend and I studied for THREE hours last night for it). It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, hopefully I did as well I think I did!

I had work today. It was mine and my coworker Brittany's lesson plan. Our theme for the day was obviously Valentine's Day. The way the program works is everyday we have a different theme and then we have a writing activity and a game that goes with that theme. So, at the beginning I'm talking about different Valentine's Day stories, and one of them was how way back when, unmarried women would place love notes in an urn and then unmarried men would choose a note from the urn and would have to be partners with the woman for the rest of the day. After I told that story, one of the boys raised his hand, with a terrified look on his face, and said "Thats not our activity for the day is it?!" haha! It was too cute! The writing activity for the day was to make an acrostic poem out of the word "heart"...they came up with some pretty good stuff!

I talked to my mom last night for quite awhile. She was talking about all the home improvement stuff she wants to do. She wants to do a lot of stuff on our deck and in our backyard...it made me really excited for summer. She also talked about redoing my room, which I think definitely needs to be done. Plus, I need to go through all my stuff, considering I've acquired a lot of new things being away at college...aww I can't wait for April!

So awhile ago, I decided to join the 50bookchallenge community. The main goal is to read 50 books in one year. However, being in college has seriously hindered the amount of time I get to read (well, things other than text books haha). I'm off to a slow start but I know that once April rolls around and I'm done with classes, I'll be able to catch up!

And...the first book I've completed in 2007 was Wicked by Gregory Maguire.

All in all, I thought the book was very interesting. At times, it was a little long winded, but it wasn't bad enough to make me stop reading (which I would never do anyway, once I start a book, I have to finish it, no matter how terrible it is!). The overall concept of the book was brilliant, and definitely provided a new perspective on the whole Wizard of Oz story. Maguire has quite the imagination! Also, I was surprised at some of the...dirtier parts of the book. The Wizard of Oz was a book I read when I was younger so to see some very adult content in the book kind of caught me off guard haha! However, being someone that doesn't usually enjoy reading fantasy books, I found Wicked to be pretty good...and I'm looking into reading more of Maguire's stuff.

Ok, 98% of the time I absolutely love living in Minnesota. However, today was one of the those days that falls into the 2% of the time I despise living here. Why, oh why, does it have to be so dang cold!? I mean its a little ridiculous when its colder here than it is at the north pole!

Other than the cold, today was an okay day. I had a psychology test today...it wasn't too bad. After psychology class I have religion. I wish we could test out of religion class..I mean we can test out of math and science..why not religion? Ah well, I've only got about two more months of it.

I had to work tonight. It really stinks that its so cold out because then we can't take the kids outside and they just get really unruly. Although I really do like working there, kids are just so amazing...especially these ones. They all come from a variety of troublesome households, yet you would never know just looking at them. I love watching them learn, or when they get excited about something we're teaching them.

My friend Anna and I went shopping tonight...we're making valentines on Sunday which should be pretty fun haha! We went a little overboard on our shopping..I think we got enough stickers and glitter to last us a lifetime!

Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled about tonight's episodes of Grey's Anatomy and ER )

I've got to get to bed...8am class tomorrow...eww!

Whoa I haven't updated in forever! However, that is going to be changing. Second semester is going way better than first semester went, I've finally got a routine figured out. I'll be changing this journal up a little bit and I'll definitely be updating more!

Classes are going really well. I've realized (well I kind of always knew) that I love the field of psychology. Its just interesting! So now in addition to being a biology major/chemistry minor, I'm also a psychology minor. Biology classes are definitely going way better this semester. I LOVE lab this time around! My professor is totally awesome and I love the things we are studying. We got our first lab test back today and I got a 96...yay!

Today was a pretty good day. I had dinner with a couple friends which was fun. I also talked to my friend Ang today. It was sooooo nice to talk to her, I miss her a lot when I'm gone at school. And I talked to Sandy today too..she had a job interview today, I really hope she gets the job because she wants it really bad, and she totally deserves it!

Other than that, not too much going on...just busy with school and work, and all the other wonderful things that go along with being a college student!

Well, I'm off to bed...I need sleep!

Well I'm back at school!

Christmas break was a lot of fun...definitely a much needed break. One of my favorite days had to be when I went dress shopping with Sandy..I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Also, the weekend I got to babysit the girls was tons of fun, especially since we got a HUGE snowstorm that weekend and we spent a lot of time playing outside.

But as much fun as that was...I was kind of excited to get back to school and finish up the school year. I have a feeling that this semester is going to go by extremely fast. I just have to stay really focused, give my all, and keep my eye on the prize...being at home for the summer!

I really like my classes this semester...well, except for two..

Mondays and Wednesdays I have my biology lecture in the morning, I don't think that class is going to be too hard, its just a lot of memorizing which I can handle. After that, I have oral communications. I'm really not too thrilled about that class...I think the thing I'm most dreading is the fact that we get recorded giving our speeches and then we have to self-critique...I'm not looking forward to that! The last class I have on Mon and Wed is my biology lab. Again, I think that will be pretty easy, plus my section only has 13 students in it which is nice.

Tuesdays and Thursdays I start out the day with my psychology class. I absolutely LOVE that class! I just find everything about psychology to be extremely interesting. Plus my professor is really cool. He actually isn't a regular professor at the college, he's a practicing psychologist at a psychiatric hospital in Fargo. He works mostly with children and teenagers and he has tons of interesting stories. I'm really thinking about minoring in psychology. After psychology I have religion. I really don't like that class. The class is a lot of work, plus my professor is leading a trip in South Africa in May, which hey, thats really cool..but everything in your class should not be about religion in South Africa. Hopefully the class will get better...

Other than that..not too much going on. Its been a pretty low key weekend. I'm actually ahead on all of my homework which is really great. I talked to Sandy today...she said that her and the girls were walking down to Sandy's grandma's house and they were walking by where my car is always parked when I'm there and Nat said "Mom, I wish the snow plow hadn't gone by because then I'd still be able to see Amber's footprints in the snow"...*sigh* I love her! I really miss my little girlies when I'm not home!

Alright...I'm off to read! I'm really thinking of joining the lj community where you are challenged to read 50 books in a year..I think I could do it!

So my mom had surgery today. Her shoulder was frozen...not as in cold frozen but just like locked in place.

I sat with my mom before they brought her into surgery. Whatever drugs they gave her made her nuttier than a fruitcake! I walked into her room and she immediately began telling me about her the pulse ox lead on her finger looked like a dolphin and she could make some awesome shadow puppets with it. I stood up to look at her monitor and she told me not to even bother because "the only channel she could get to come through on that tv was the weather channel" Oook mom haha!

The surgery took about two hours. My dad is such an anxious waiting room person. He kept pacing. Which is so odd considering a we've spent a great amount of time in hospital waiting rooms, I mean from the time I was 5 up until I was 12 I spent tons of time in various hospital waiting rooms. However, my mom and dad were usually in with my brother so I guess I'm the one out of all of us that has the most experience in waiting rooms. I've always found hospital waiting rooms to be such interesting places...sometimes you'll hear the most fascinating stories while you are sitting there.

My mom has to stay in the hospital overnight because they put a blocker in her left arm and she can't leave until she's regained the feeling and ability to move the arm. She wasn't too happy about having to stay overnight but that is the way it had to be.

I'm just really glad the surgery went well and hopefully she won't have anymore problems with her shoulder.

wise words
For example, I can instantly deduce that when someone hears the name Paris in the same sentence with the word date, jaws will drop, confused looks will cover faces, words like 'how' and 'why' and 'Quick, Bob, get the children in the minivan because the world is obviously coming to an end.' will immediately fly out of people's mouths.-Paris (Gilmore girls)
